Margaret’s introduction to yoga was from a group fitness class called BODYFLOW that was offered at the gym she was attending back in 2008. Margaret enjoyed it so much that she became a certified BODYFLOW instructor in 2010 and taught that format for about two years. Over time, she felt the need to delve deeper in her practice and a desire to bring yoga to other areas in her community. In May 2012, she completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training at Gotta Yoga Studio in Charlotte, and in 2018 she completed her 300-hour advanced yoga teacher training with Rolf Gates.

A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Margaret has a passion to serve the veteran community. She has become a certified instructor and ambassador for the Veterans Yoga Project, having taught classes at the South Charlotte VA Clinic in Charlotte, NC, and lead classes online for her local chapter of Team RWB. Margaret is also a certified Yoga of 12-Step Recovery (Y12SR) space holder. Margaret firmly believes that yoga is for everyone and strives to create a safe space to practice and to make her classes accessible to all bodies. Her favorite practices are Yin/Deep Stretch and Slow Flow/Gentle Yoga. The long, passive holds in a Yin practice provide that space for the mind to surrender into stillness and the body to relieve and release tension, whereas Slow Flow/Gentle Yoga provide just enough movement to connect breath with movement to help support her everyday activities.

Outside of yoga Margaret has earned her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2014. Her hobbies include knitting and crochet (she knits socks for the charity Socks for Soldiers) and is an avid reader of most genres with her favorite being science fiction. Some of her favorite activities include swimming, cycling, and running, having completed several 5Ks, 10ks, and a few 15ks and half marathons. She also holds the blackbelt rank of 1st Dan in Taekwondo.

Margaret is also a Level 1RRCA Certified Adult Distance Running Coach, an ACE Certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor.
